Flight Crew CRM Trainer Initial Course

The Crew Resource Management Initial Instructor Training is an intensive and practice-oriented programme that prepares you for the role of CRM instructor within the operational aviation environment. This training forms the foundation for effectively conveying CRM principles and guiding both flight deck and cabin crew in classroom as well as practical training settings.

The programme consists of five training days and can be followed flexibly:

Two days of Teaching & Learning, focused on didactics, learning psychology, feedback techniques, and creating a safe and effective learning environment.

For candidates who hold an Instructor Certificate for Complex Aircraft, the two Teaching & Learning days are not mandatory. However, we do recommend attending these sessions, as classroom instruction for groups differs from flight instruction, and the lessons are taught in the context of CRM and human-factors principles.

Three days of Human Factors, during which we explore key CRM themes such as Just Culture, Situational Awareness, Threat and Error Management, Automation, Human Performance & Limitations, Communication, Leadership, and Team Dynamics.

Throughout this training, you will not only develop subject-matter expertise but also acquire the skills required to convey complex human-centred processes in a clear, inspiring, and structured way. You will learn how to translate CRM concepts into realistic case studies, how to stimulate interaction, and how to guide participants in reflection and behavioural change.

The objective of this Initial CRM Trainer Course is to strengthen your role as a CRM instructor: professional, knowledgeable, and capable of creating an open, engaging, and Just-Culture-driven training environment.
